Tar تار

The tar is the heart of Persian classical music: a long-necked lute with a double-bowl body of mulberry wood covered with a thin lambskin. It has six strings and is played with a small brass plectrum. Its sound is bright, clear and very expressive; many masters of the radif, the traditional repertoire, were tar players.
