Oud (Barbat) عود (بربط)
The oud, also called barbat in Persian, is a fretless short-necked lute with a rounded, pear-shaped body. The barbat is considered one of the ancestors of the Arabic oud and the European lute. Its deep, round sound often accompanies singing and ensembles.
