Ney نی
The ney is an end-blown reed flute with five holes in front and one at the back. In the Persian technique the reed is placed between the teeth, giving a soft, breathy tone. Since Rumi’s famous “Song of the Reed”, the ney stands for the soul’s longing for its origin.
