Iran Regime Increases Missile Production
While education, construction and developmental, and health service systems as well as a number of other civil services are facing shortage of funds in Iran, and according to the regime officials even the adopted development budget is not realized more than a few percent, Iran regime’s parliament agreed to increase military spending in the coming years.
Under this decision, it was agreed to increase annual military spending from 2% to 5% in the total budget under the framework of the sixth program.
Parliamentarians call to save the life of Political Prisoner Ali Moezzi
Parliamentary Committees of “Friends of Free Iran” in various European countries including Sweden, Romania, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Estonia in separate letters to the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zied Ra’ed Al-Hussein, urged him to take action for the safety of political prisoner, Ali Moezzi, who was kidnapped by Gohardasht prison officials on January 4 and transferred to an unknown location.
Iran: Golrokh Iraee’s leave was not extended
Officials of the Prosecutor’s Office once again rejected the inquiry for extension of prison leave for political prisoner Golrokh Iraee.
The request submitted by Amir Raessian, the defense attorney representing political prisoners Golrokh Iraee and her husband, Arash Sadeghi, was turned down on Tuesday, January 10, 2017.
Mr. Sadeghi’s leave was registered with documents, but his dispatch for treatment in hospital has been conditioned on Ms. Iraee’s return to prison.
On January 4, 2017, Ms. Iraee was allowed to leave prison after 72 days of hunger strike by her husband, Arash Sadeghi, in protest to her unfair sentence and imprisonment, and under pressure of domestic and international public opinion demanding the couple’s release.
15 million cases in Iran regime’s judiciary
Member of Iranian regime’s parliament ‘Mohammad Javad Fathi’ has acknowledged that there are 15 million records in regime’s judiciary.
In his parliamentary speech on Monday January 6, Fathi said that “it’s really a shame that in the lands of the unbelievers (Western countries), prisons are closed each year and their courthouses become smaller whereas here in the ‘House of Islam’ we’ve acted in such a way that the number of our judicial cases has reached 15 million.”
He pointed to India which, considering its population, has only four million judicial records. “Where are we heading, with more than 15 million cases in the judiciary?”, he said.

Iranians rebel at former President Rafsanjani’s funeral

The funeral of former President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has presented a rare occasion for Iranians to express public resistance.

Huge crowds flocked on to the streets of Tehran to commemorate the former insider and founding member of the revolution whose political allegiances shifted in later life towards the reformists.

Rafsanjani died of a heart attack on Sunday (January 8), at the age of 82.

Iran reports US violations to Joint Commission

Iran has reported US violations of the nuclear deal with the P5+1 to a Joint Commission tasked with monitoring the implementation of the JCPOA.
Members of the Joint Commission called for suspension of the Iran Sanctions Act implementation. The US representatives said the current administration has conducted a series of measures to render the Iran Sanctions Act ineffective. The meeting was held in the Austrian capital Vienna. It was the fourth such gathering to review progress of implementing the pact since it came into force in January 2016. The meeting was requested by Iran in December after the US sanctions legislation was renewed for a decade.

Body of ex-president Ayat. Rafsanjani laid to rest at Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum

The body of Iran’s two-time president and former parliament speaker Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani was laid to rest two days after he passed away following a heart attack. Hundreds of thousands of Iranian people poured into the streets of the capital Tehran on Tuesday bidding their last farewells to the late veteran politician. We have a report.
