ازدواج کرده است و
کارشناسی تئاتر از دانشگاه آزاد هنر و معماری دارد. در سال 79 یک گروه موسیقی راک ایرانی به نام اپولو داشته است که راک ایرانی می زدند اما به قول خودش بعدا همه شان جدا شدند و رفتند سمت زندگی خودشان. وی پیانو، گیتار و گاهی هم ساز دهنی می زند. خطیبی به غیر از موسیقی و بازیگری گاهی نمایش‌نامه‌های انگلیسی را هم به فارسی ترجمه مى كند و مديرگروه موسیقی ترافیک نیز هست.
از کارهای او می توان به همسفر، این راهش نیست، آخرین گناه، از نفس افتاده و …. اشاره کرد.

Ashkan Khatibi is an Iranian Actor, theater director, Singer & song writer. His passion for art started to show up from early ages when he was encouraged by his parents to learn piano & ensured that he takes his first passion, music seriously.

Later he taught himself to play the guitar & harmonica.

With his ability to play 3 instruments he formed a band. The band was later to be called “Apollon” . They stayed together for a couple of years, making music and doing gigs. He attended Art University in 1998 and obtained a degree in theater directing. In his first year at university he got offered a role in the film “daftari az aseman”(a notebook from heaven). This was his first time to take part in a film as a professional actor. His thrilling performance in “A time to Rebel” & “Last Sin” made him known as a talented actor with a unique style.

Ashkan’s first interest was to persue a career in theater. In 1999 he appeared in “Telephone” which brought him the best actor award. He also took part in a few big theater shows at the time such as “winter”, “Death and the maiden “which was directed by himself, “the servant” &“choe’s manifesto”. Ashkan also did voice over a character in “so far, so close” by Reza Mirkarimi.

In 2007 he was offered to present a TV show, “Khanei ba Tarh-e-No” (A house with new ideas) with another renowned comedian, Rambod Javan. They were performing live 30 minutes plays for 50-60 million people every night on Iranian national TV. It also was the first show in this style.

Later he signed up for, “Tropical Flowers”.

During his work on stage, he familiarized himself with international play writers, There for decided to translate a few of their works such as “Savage/Love”, “curse of the starving class” & “True west” by sam Sheppard, “Celebration” & “moonlight” by late Harold Pinter. He has also written regular essays and reviews for “Shargh” newspaper & “Film & Art” magazine.

Ashkan has presented various types of characters throughout his appearances in either films or plays.
