C’est l’histoire d’un gars qui ne savait rien faire d’autre. Même son ami Marc Lièvremont, ancien entraîneur du XV de France, doit bien l’admettre, lui qui a déjà fait semblant de lui disputer le ballon sur un terrain de rugby : “Heureusement que Jean a choisi de faire du cinéma…”
Jean Dujardin, le petit dernier d’une famille de quatre frères, dont trois aux prénoms d’apôtres, n’était pas doué pour grand-chose. Freluquet, mutique, nul à l’école, incapable d’écrire sur les lignes comme de lire en continuité, tous les symptômes de la dyspraxie. Au rugby, il valait mieux qu’il coure vite pour ne pas se faire plaquer par ses frères. “Que va-t-on faire de lui ?”, s’angoissait sa mère. On l’appelait “Jean de la Lune”. Il rêvait. “Je n’étais pas du tout malheureux, précise-t-il avec ce sourire fatal où pointe une canine droite légèrement décalée. J’étais très bien dans mon petit monde. J’observais, je dessinais. A la fin de l’année, j’imitais les profs. La classe riait et j’étais content. Tout ce que je savais faire, c’était jouer.”
